I really have seen TDD being very harmful, and I even wrote an article about that. For me, when TDD does not work as advertised, it is more about choosing the right kind of tests than any other reason. Although, I liked your response because every rule has its exception, and even Kent Beck describes cases in which TDD should be avoided.
