What if by doubling the number of developers we could more than double their capacity? Is that even possible?

During my research for the article, I discovered something unexpected. On one hand, we know that doubling resources to solve a problem does not necessarily mean it will be completed twice as fast. On the other hand, I showed how automation opens new paths and enables the composition of benefits, which can lead to exponential improvements. I didn’t expect to see this in software development, but it turns out it’s possible.
The common expectation is that if you double the number of developers, you’ll double capacity. However, that is not always true, and can even be worse. Nobody explains this better than Robert C. Martin, in this 2019 video he explains:
