How a Superintelligent AI might affect us is something that eludes human intelligence. We could become like ants to this new superintelligence, unaware of its actions and how it shapes our future. Just as with a black hole, where we lack the ability to know what happens inside, when we talk about technological singularity, we refer to a point at which we are incapable of predicting what will happen.

But there is a movie that I have found to be particularly relevant in offering a glimpse of what it could be like. A movie that, although it does not deal with artificial intelligence, allows us to see how a higher intelligence is capable of changing a person’s destiny with just a few insignificant objects. The movie is ‘Paycheck’, starring Ben Affleck, from 2003.

The story centers on Michael Jennings (Ben Affleck), an engineer who specializes in working on top-secret high-tech projects and then has his memory erased for a specific period to prevent the leaking of trade secrets.
